Over Hill and Valley - Push Yourself to the Limit

Ziller Valley Steinbock hike

Are you an ambitious hiker? Do you love the high alpine mountains and have stamina, surefootedness and head for heights? Then visit the traditional Steinbock hike - taking place in Ginzling. Participants will complete a tour of over 30 kilometres through the Ziller Valley Alps and must conquer a total of 3,480 altitude metres. A challenge for any hiking enthusiast!

The event starts very early in the morning! Participants must start their hike between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. The route leads from Ginzling through the Floitental valley, ascending up to the Mörchnerscharte, the highest point of the hike at an altitude of 2,870 m. The descent takes you past the Schwarzsee lake and the Berliner Hut in the Zemm Valley until they reach the finish line at the Gasthaus Breitlahner.

On the way,they will pass several refreshment stalls, where they can top up your energy levels to make it to the end. Every participant needs to stop in the check-in points along the route to qualify in the rankings. When they cross the finish line, they will be awarded with the Ziller Valley Steinbock badge as recognition of your effort and endurance.
